When in Chester…it’s thumbs up for some Roman games

We’re inviting horticultural industry bosses and staff to grab their togas and sign up for a fundraising event being held at our annual conference.

The Greenfingers Challenge Cup will take place on Sunday, January 25 at the De Vere Carden Park in Chester to raise money for the charity, which creates gardens at children’s hospices nationwide.

This year the theme for the Challenge Cup will be the Roman Games and will see a team of garden centre staff go head-to-head with a team of suppliers in everything from chariot races to Roman road building. The games will commence at 1.30pm and everyone is welcome.

Last year our fundraising event took place in the form of Beach, Bingo and Boogie, which was a huge success and great fun for all who took part.

The games are sponsored by Sinclairs, Briers, Deco Pak, Globus, La Hacienca, Kärcher, Handy Distribution and Cadix.

More sponsorship opportunities are also available. Anyone wishing to sponsor a game for the competitors should email Danny Adamson via adamsondj@hotmail.com or call 07921 409014.

You don’t need to sponsor an event to take part, we’re just looking for as many people as possible to sign up and participate.

Guy Topping, Managing Director of Barton Grange Garden Centre will be leading the garden centre team and Danny Adamson, Former Managing Director of William Sinclair will be leading the suppliers or associates team. The team that gets the most points overall will win the Greenfingers Challenge Cup.

To register your interest for taking part in the Roman Games, please email Danny.

Greenfingers was launched in November 1998 by a group of volunteers drawn from all sectors of the gardening industry.

Growers, plant breeders, retailers, manufacturers and a host of gardening journalists and celebrities have willingly contributed materials, time and expertise to create gardens at children’s hospices around the UK.

Our annual conference will take place from January 25 until 28, 2015 at the De Vere Carden Park in Chester. To book a place, please visit the members’ area on our website via www.gca.org.uk.
